Does this sound like you or anyone you lead?
-

-
Feeling enjoyment going to church, but personal spiritual life feels separate or irrelevant to the world.
The secret to growing in faith and the key to reaching the world are found in the Lord’s prayer.
Journey in Prayer is a book designed to help you to evangelize seekers and disciple new believers to grow in prayer, encountering Jesus through first hand prayer experience.

Going deeper with God, sharing my faith, and expecting to see things happen
Journey in Prayer is a wonderful and transformative book, both scholarly and practical. John Smed is a very effective communicator. My own prayer practice has become more directed affording me greater mental and emotional clarity and stability. I feel more resilient with a greater sense of spiritual resources and relationship to God, whom I now address as “Father.” Thank you for creating this book which will help many who pray and many for whom we pray.

“Journey in Prayer is a wonderful and transformative book, both scholarly and practical. I feel more resilient with a greater sense of spiritual resources and relationship to God, whom I now address as “Father.”
The Seven Days of Prayer with Jesus study has changed my prayer life. My prayer life has grown so much, and has become so much more meaningful and personal. I’ve never seen the Lord’s prayer this way before.
This training is transforming our church!
15 years ago, I met Scott. He was working on a project at my office. We struck up a friendship. We discussed faith, Jesus, the Bible, and his beliefs. He was far from God, but he was surprised by my openness to discuss and hear him.
18 months ago, Scott was remanded to the state jail for incarcerated addiction recovery treatment. I began visiting him in jail. I was privileged to lead him to faith in Christ during his first week in jail. I gave him a bible and a copy of Journey in Prayer. In a few days’ time, he had a group of 6 men praying each night through the Lord’s Prayer, and they were seeing answers to prayer.
For the next six months, we spoke almost every day. Reading through scripture, praying together, and discipling him.
A year before Scott went to jail, I began a weekly prayer cell following one of the petitions in the Lord’s Prayer each time we met. We prayed for Scott regularly. We rejoiced at his profession of faith. We began earnest prayer for his life after his release.
When Scott was released last November, he joined our weekly prayer cell. He was full of questions, but there was one thing he was certain of: his heavenly Father heard and answered his cries.
He is coming up on a year of sobriety and getting married this week. He is learning to walk in this new life as a child of the King. He is a new man.

Why You Need This
-
Disciple New Believers
It is not uncommon to tell a new believer, "Prayer is simply talking to God. Just tell him what's on your heart." With this approach, it is easy for prayers to become myopic, never quite maturing to a kingdom focus.
Use this to disciple new believers or youth groups, providing them with a solid yet expansive foundation of biblical prayer to balance the tendency to treat God like a genie who merely exists to serve human needs.
-
Disciple Seekers into the Kingdom
Great as a prayer as a followup to an introduction to Christianity or Alpha course. Or try hosting a book club outreach for seekers.
Bridge the gap where participants aren't quite ready to make a profession of faith, inviting the Holy Spirit to move intellectual knowledge of the gospel into heart experience of Jesus, through prayer.
