Impact of Journey in Prayer

I’d like to provide this reference and testimony for the Journey in Prayer Book. This simple but very deep and insightful book on praying the Lord’s Prayer has both impacted me, as well as my church community.

I have been a Christian since I was the age of 10. Like many young kids, I learned the Lords Prayer. However, my experience was to simply memorize and recite the Lord’s prayer. It actually did not have much personal meaning to me. I did not even know what much of the prayer was actually about.

About 15 years ago, I first came upon this book. It took the Lord’s Prayer and showed me how to pray it over seven days. Each day would take one petition of the Lord’s Prayer, and dive into the significance of each petition, how to pray it, and how to apply it to my daily walk with Jesus Christ . On a practical basis, I began to pray this prayer while having daily walks in my city and neighbourhoods. It gave me a strong framework on how to pray for the things that Jesus wanted me to focus on. To this day, the Lord’s Prayer is a foundation of my prayer life.

In addition to my own personal prayer life, this past spring, I organized a book study at my church using Journey in Prayer. We had a group of about 12 people meet on a weekly basis to go through each chapter of Journey in Prayer , discussing and praying through each chapter. The response from this group was far more than I had expected. People shared that it really raised for them a new understanding and insight into the Lord’s Prayer that they did not have before. The group also built strong relationships with one another, and we encouraged and prayed for each other weekly.

I’m grateful for the impact that Journey in Prayer has had on my own life and in the life of my church. I thoroughly recommend it to transform anyone’s prayer life.
